About the Consortium
Our region’s eight localities most recently formed a Consortium, known as the Capital Region Workforce Partnership (CRWP) in 2014 for purposes of implementing the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. It is a collaborative that acts as a unit in executing shared duties enumerated under the federal law. The Partnership shares the responsibility to seek and maintain local area designation from the Governor appoint the region’s business-led Workforce Development Board, and holds the ultimate responsibility for the oversight and budgeting of the federal funds received. With the Board they share in elements like strategic planning, service provider selection and performance accountability. Together, the Partnership and the Board ensure that the workforce system is equitable, responsive, and inclusive meeting the needs of businesses in securing a skilled and competitive workforce, and supporting individuals seeking employment, training, or career advancement.
