You may be eligible to participate in training programs that lead to recognized credentials for in demand jobs such as:

** All training opportunities are dependent upon eligibility and availability of funds from the WIOA program.

Can We Serve You?

You may be eligible for the WIOA Youth Program if you are between 17 –24 years old, meet eligibility income guidelines and possess one or more of the following barriers to employment:

  • Pregnant or parent
  • Homeless
  • Foster care or aged out
  • Ex-offender
  • Disability
  • Basic skills deficient in reading and/or mathematics
  • English language learner
  • Unemployment/lack of meaningful employment
  • *Additional Eligibility Requirements May Apply
Eligibility

Participants must be:

  • out-of-school
  • be between 18-24 years old

and meet one or more of the following barriers:

  •  left school without graduating
  •  low income and basic skills deficient or an English language learner
  • Ex-offender
  • Homeless/runaway/foster care/aged out of foster care/out-of-home placement
  • Pregnant or parenting
  • An individual with a disability

We provide youth with the resources, training and opportunities needed to help them become connected to support systems and supportive caring people that can jumpstart their upward mobility through self and family sustaining employment.

Who Are We?

We are a federally funded program through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) which is committed to assist youth to succeed in an ever changing world of work.

 

Career Advantage offers an engaging environment featuring work-ready, focused training at no cost. Training includes self-management and communication skills, goal setting, occupational research, resume writing, interview skills, portfolio development, professionalism, problem-solving, stress management, etc. We teach participants how to maintain positive relationships with responsible adults and peers, explore opportunities for community service, and develop leadership skills.

Program offerings include:

  • Mentoring/Tutoring and study skills training
  • Alternative secondary school
  • Paid and unpaid work experiences, including internships and job shadowing
  • Occupational skill training
  • Leadership development
  • Supportive services
  • Follow-up services
  • Comprehensive guidance and counseling
  • Financial literacy education
  • Entrepreneurial skills training
  • Activities to help prepare for training and education
