These individualized services take your job search to the next level. Access to these services requires enrollment in one of our programs, and your personal commitment to finishing the program and launching a new future.


One size doesn’t fit all. That is why our career coaches guide you through several steps to ensure your employment plan is as unique as you are. These Career Support Services generally include:

  • One-on-one assistance with resumes, cover letters and thank you letters

  • Assistance with completing employment applications

  • Career counseling

  • Development of an individual employment plan

  • In-depth interviewing skills development

  • Career and skills testing

  • Occupational skills training, on-the-job training, job readiness training

  • Referrals to specialized services

Once eligibility is determined, you will complete your skills assessment and career evaluation. Together, we use these results to select a career path that suits your abilities and interests.

For those who need and desire additional training or education, we have a variety of options. These include traditional schooling, online classes, work experience, internships, apprenticeships, on-the-job training, and occupational certificates.


Most industries have openings on any given day, but those listed below are experiencing growth or are identified as focused “target industries” and are essential to the future of our regional economy. Developing skills relevant to these industries increases your marketability and job security. We’ve identified short-term training options for all of these industries that can help you get a foot in the door if you’re new or demonstrate your competence if you’re experienced. We also have employers who are eager to meet new training graduates.

We’re required to collect eligibility documentation. Having it with you on your first visit will help speed up the process—getting you on the path to a high- demand, high-growth career sooner.

  • Right to Work Document: Birth Certificate, or Hospital Record of Birth, or DD214, or U.S. Passport, or Alien Registration Card (indicating right to work)
  • Social Security Documentation: Social Security Card, or DD214, or Pay Stubs, or W-2 Form
  • Picture Identification: Driver’s License, or State Issued ID
  • Selective Service: Only for males 18-years-of-age or older and born on-or-after January 1, 1960
  • Proof of Residence: Driver’s License, or correspondence sent to your home address
  • Work History: Resume, job search log, or recent government job application
  • Income Documentation: 6 months of household wages, pay stubs, Unemployment Insurance documentation, or TANF or SNAP eligibility form
  • Veteran Status: DD214, if applicable
  • Official Lay-Off Status: Notice from your employer, Virginia Employment Commission (VEC) Notice of Deputy’s Determination, Severance Package, Closure Notice, or General Notice (i.e. newspaper clipping), if applicable

Due to growing interest and demand, not all those who are eligible under federal guidelines will be enrolled into a program. In some instances, an initial assessment may be done to determine the appropriateness of enrolling into programing based on their individual needs and current resources.
